Ten Great iPhone Applications

Ten Great iPhone Applications
We have tested about thirty iPhone apps so far but only ten applications actually made the cut for our favorites list. They are listed in order from best to worst. Most are very useful and easy to use, but some have privacy concerns (still great Apps).
Reviews:

GV Mobile: GV Mobile allows you to use Google Voice to dial numbers from the iPhone’s address book or keypad, set forwarding, SMS messaging, play and delete vmail. All the Google Voice features work.

Fring: Fring features: You use this app so you can use Skype instead of mobile phone minutes. You can make IM buddies mobile and view them from one contact list, make free calls, live chat instead of SMS messages, call landlines and cell phones using SkypeOut or SIP. You can also view friends’ profiles, use mobile Internet, send & receive files, auto roam WiFi hot-spots and create Fring Add-ons.

Skype: Very useful and easy to use. Use Skype free from any WiFi zone. Lets you make low-cost international calls from mobiles and landline phones instead of T-mobile minutes (works great with Fring).

WordPress:Access your WordPress Blog. This iPhone application that lets you write posts, upload photos, edit pages, and manage comments on your blog from your iPhone or iPod Touch. Do we need to say more?

Evernote: Evernote (organizer) can can be used to remember tasks, type a text note, clip your favorite web page, snap photos or grab screenshots (very handy).

Cycorder: Cycorder is video recorder with maximum speed, using the iPhone camera (up to 6-15 fps). There are no compression delay between pressing stop and viewing the video. Cycorder uses MJPEG compression and video files are 384288 @ 43 aspect ratio.

Google Services: Access Google Docs, Gmail, Calender, Google Talk, Reader, GOOG411 and more. Very useful and easy to use applications.

VNC Lite: Remotely access your PC from anywhere. You can basically work from anywhere and access your PCs desktop, use programs and access files. Depending on tech skills you may be required to sign up for account (privacy alert).

Twitterific: Great App for people who are addicted to Twitter and Tweets. Makes Twittering or Tweeting updates a breeze!!!

Facebook: A Simple application for Facebook Social Network. I think most people know about FaceBook but if you don’t connect and share requires account setup.

Categories: Even though it’s at the end, Categories is one of the most useful apps easy to use. Does have some risk but read help file after install and you will be fine.
We will add in links to downloads in a day or two.

iTouch Repair

iTouch Repair
By admin on Steps to repair

iPod Touch iTouch
Repairing Your iPod Touch Battery.
Our generation one iTouch battery just arrived. Since the batteries on these commonly goes bad we thought a simple repair video was in order. The soldering process was the hardest part and it was very cheap to do, whole process only took a about 30 minutes.
Here what we did. We ordered a six dollar battery, the cheapest we could find with the iTouch opening tools included. Shipping was a flat $5 bringing our total to $11 bucks. Steps to repair your own iTouch below (first gen only).
The $11 dollar iTouch Battery Fix.
1. Insert the iPod opening tool that came with the battery into the seam in between display panel and back
panel.
2. Work your way around the iPod, with the larger tool that came with kit. Work all the way around until the seven interlocking retaining clips come loose from the iPod. the iPod.
3. The iPod should be open now and you can open. Inside The battery is glued to the iPod’s display so now you must gently peel loose from the display.
4. Remove the antenna and 2 screws underneath. Next loosen the antenna circuit board. Peel the orange cable from the display, now remove black tape and four screws. Now disconnect the black connector, gently lifting the logic board.
5. Now lift (gently) on the smaller portion of the logic left under main logic board. Then battery can now be  separated from the iPod. Remove the glue covering the battery contacts and begin the soldering process.
6. Heat old connections to loosen. Then clean and remove excess solder. Heat small bead and start attaching wires (mark order of removal to be safe, only 3). That’s it.

HD Projector for iPhone and iTouch

HD Projector for iPhone and iTouch

Videos
I know this would not qualify as an iPhone app but I have been watching this product for almost a year now. We put two videos because just one leaves you with too many questions. This should be out by now but my guess on the delay is litigation. A bunch of companies have jumped into the arena since it was introduced at CES conference last year. Your guess is as good as mine on who Apple eventually signs a deal with.
What iPhone Applications and iTouch Apps will spawn from this?

Vonage Application:

By admin on Vonage
Finally, Vonage has released an application for making calls via VOIP, The new Vonage app works with the iPhone and iTouch.  This is one of the apps I have been wanting for a long time. It is really the reason I got an iPhone and switched from regular cell phone.

iPhone: The Vonage Mobile app is a free download available in the iTunes App Store or on the Vonage Mobile website.
About:
- They offer a $1 credit to start making international calls.
- New software allows you to dial directly or through your address book.
- The new Vonage App knows you’re making an international call and automatically routes calls through international network.
- You can use in a Wi-Fi hotspot or at home and uses none of your wireless plans minutes.
- Uses your existing cell number (add at sign-up) to make calls while on Wi-Fi or cellular networks.
- The application is available for iPhone, BlackBerry and iPod touch.
We are testing now and it works great, as long as Wi-Fi signal is good. Will update this post after another day or two of testing.

Our First Application

Our First Application
We are working on our first iPhone Application and iTouch App! This will be the first of many and should be in the iTunes Store in a few weeks. We are hoping to sell the new app for $1.99 but if we can keep costs down it may be just under a dollar.
All we can say about the new application is it’s for use when you have lost your iPhone or iTouch. Once we receive our new Macs from Apple we should be rolling out Apps on a regular basis so stay tuned!
If  you have an idea for creating a great app Check out our next post. You could win a new 64GBiTouch! Also, we will be adding contact form to submit your ideas and adding an are for people to find developers to help create apps.

Iphone Developer Program : Apple : Itouch

Iphone Developer Program : Apple : Itouch

iPhone 3GS  – Apps Tester:
We are going to walk through the process of building iPhone apps and iTouch applications as we come to them. First get all your business documents together, articles of organization, business license, etc. You will also need bank account info later when submitting or releasing an application.
Once you have filled out and faxed the forms to apply you must wait for notice of approval to the iPhone developer program. After approval standard program is $99 (ideal for most) per year or the Enterprise Program costs $299 a year for companies with 500 or more employees creating apps. The member level you choose will depend on company size. Starting out in the iPhone developer program is a bit confusing so use the resources. You will need to down load the Development Tools in the iPhone SDK. We also purchased a new iTouch 32 gig with voice control so that we use it for development + testing our new iPhone applications and iTouch apps.
iPhone Apps – Downloads, Installs and Development Resources:
Xcode – Application development environment provides project management, source editor and also has a graphical debugger.
iPhone Simulator – Run demo apps, test applications and debug your app locally on your Mac OSX using a simulated iPhone program.
Instruments – You can collect,  plus display or compare performance data graphically. This can be done in real-time to help optimize your applications.
Interface Builder – Interface Builder helps make the designing process of a user interface into an easy drag and drop process.
Utilize all the resources, iPhone Reference Library, Getting Started Videos & Documents and Coding docs. Witch leads you to where we are at, the midway point so we will update as we go!
